“Doctors: A healthy sex life leads to a healthy heart”
February is the month for lovers; not only are we celebrating Valentine’s Day, but it’s also heart disease awareness month. You may be asking, what do either of those have to do with one another? The answer is in the bedroom.
“If you’re having trouble sleeping, it regulates seratonin, and also produces a hormone called oxytocin, known as the love hormone or the cuddle hormone, which increases emotional closeness and bonding with couples,” said Chavez.
“Sniffing out love: Valley’s first pheromone party”
“Primitively, pheromones had a really big role for us because it really helped with mate selection,” said Dr. Shannon Chavez. She said we can’t see or even smell the pheromones, but we have receptors in our nose and mouth that pick up on them.
“Everyone’s pheromones are different from another’s,” she said. “It’s almost as unique as a fingerprint.” Chavez said it’s good sometimes to shut off the cognitive part of chemistry and just get back to basics.
“Sex surrogates: Legitimate therapy or legalized prostitution?”

“A lot of people that go and see surrogate partners have dealt with really intense trauma sexual trauma and abuse and they’re overcoming and healing from that.”
